Geometric shapes represent blocks of wood that could be attached to the wall. The tree image will be painted on the pieces of wood and children will include images of leaves local to Ames. Metal leaf dedication plaques will be attached on the painted leaves or any other place to fill up the tree.
The Menorah near the top of the tree will most likely be moved down to a more central position. The menorah will either be painted on the wood blocks or be in bas relief out of wood. Empty squares along the sides and other randomly chosen squares can feature birds and other animals designed by children.
The trunk of the tree will be a cut out pieces of wood. The Lions holding up the tree will be designed by children. A narrow strip of wood bordering the bottom of the design under the Lions will be an area for dedication.
The model used for the tree is a tree from the wall mural from Dura
Europos Synagogue also in Syria; as seen at right. It will be
improvised upon to fit our mural and look pleasing.
