The Love Nest

Lucia and I decided to get together. She had the ability to be away from her work at Ben Gurion University for a few months. So, I got together this little apartment in New Westminster where we could be together.

I figured that Lucia would be getting on a plane to a strange city far away from her, to go be with a strange man and I did what I could to keep her anxiety level from going through the roof. Making some pictures was 'sposed to help her see that things really did exist in New Westminster, that I really was waiting for her, that I cared about her and would do the things to make her feel safe. I also wanted to be really honest along the way so that she wouldn't come here, look at me, talk to me and decide I had misrepresented stuff.

So, I made a web page to show her some pictures of where we would be together. I also spoke with her on the phone a couple of times. However, it is notable that our love affair really did get started as an ascii text communion. We both took steps to ensure that the other knew all the quirks of personality that we could think of.

Here are some pictures of New Westminster that I captured for her with a video camera. This place is in the southwest corner of Canada. It is a suburb of Vancouver.

New Westminster sits on the Fraser River.

[Working Boat]

The river is used by working boats. There are lots of sawmills and papermills on the river as well as a deep sea port.

Our apartment was on the brow of a hill which overlooks the river. However, our apartment itself did not view the river. It was in a quiet, multicultural neighborhood. My car was my moving van. I parked it in the back, where the steps led to our apartment.

In the backyard were two apple trees, a pear tree, and grape vine. I'd like to be as fruitful!

I made this tour of our apartment for Lucia. if you wish to view a slide-show of the tour click here.

We can go on into the entrance. Let me unlock the door.

Here is the kitchen and the sink. The odd thing about this apartment is that the shower was off the kitchen.

Anyway, this is the front room before I moved in. It has an old fashioned fold down ironing board built into the wall. There is a bed room as well.

After I moved some stuff in, here's the front room again.

This tour was 'sposed to make Lucia feel familiar with our house.

People on the stop smoking list asked about my work and I wanted Lucia to know about it as well. So, I linked in some work related information.

When I met Lucia I was coordinator of Kekuli Audio Visual Society. Kekuli made instructional videos for Home Support Workers and Long Term Care Staff.

I also do unix programming, system administration for Westcoast Internet Cooperative and I do freelance web design. Click here to see my resume/cv.
