Lucia came to New Westminster on August 8, 1995.
...our first face to face encounter was good. She flew into Seattle which is 3 or 4 hours drive from here. There was, of course, much anxiety, but the site of her little face was unmistakable and my heart soared. I opened my arms and gave her a hug. She's beautiful.I got a bit crazy and couldn't figure out how to steer her luggage cart, and i ran back and forth to the car a couple of times mumbling about how she's so very pretty, but all in all it was OK. We necked at every rest stop on the freeway on the way home. By the time we got home we were so overheated that we lost the next week in a swirling embrace... I can feel god extending through her as no human could offer such perfection. Not smoking made it possible. (smoke-free Aug 15, 1995)
For a week, we logged off and tuned out everything but each other. We took our love out by the Wild Rivers, to the High Mountians, and to the Ocean as well.
We went for an overnighter to Squamish area rivers and climbed under Shannon Falls.
I have lived in Vancouver on and off more than twenty years. It is one of the few places where I found I can keep body and soul together:
To lovers, it is paradise, junkies think it is a jail,
the greedy guy thinks it doesn't offer enough.
I think it has a beautiful soul.

I went out into the sunset and lifted my eyes up to
some rugged blue peaks nearby. A high golden glacier
weeps into a falls and bleeds into the ocean. Ahh..
it hurts softly now.

People do not come to this place for its beaches,
nite life or net connection. They come to be lifted up
into the heavens by the mountains, these great jagged
witnesses hovering over the lakes. Here, you don't
go up on a mountain, rather you go into the high
worlds.
Cathedral forested cougars liars, and furious rivers
and eagle's swear. Of granite, wood and wildflowers, i
will spin you a dream. Eternities are made of days and
hours, just watchin you breathe.. this super-oxygenated
air. (July 19, 1995)
Lucia wanted to know as much as possible about my past so I showed her pictures and played tapes from when I used to play rock and roll music and I danced with the pots and pans. Then I shaved off my mustache. We hugged alot. We walked around the corner to Mom's Cafe and talked about serious issues of identity and survival in our lives.
We picked black berries and cooked them with salmon, wrapped in tinfoil with chopped celery, nuts and mushrooms. It's a local Indian recipe.
We took long walks on the beach in White Rock, looking for crabs, watching the sea gulls fly, the sun glisten on the water, and the starfish crawl slowly over the rocks while a guitarist strummed some tunes on the pier.
We wanted to be together endlessly and we decided to get married.
A doubter will dwell,
inside of a jail,
convinced he will fail
if he frees himself.
Oh falcon fly,
up into the sky,
a gift to my eyes.
Yesterday's gone by.
Every ending is just the beginning,
the dawn will surely come.
Dream little dreamer and sing little singer,
you are the rising sun.
Accept or refuse,
you know you can choose
to leave your cacoon.
Baby it's your life.
Follow your heart,
if you'll give it a start,
it knows who you are.
It knows your destiny.
Every ending is just the beginning.
The dawn will surely come.
Dream little dreamer and sing little singer,
you are the rising sun.
Baby it's your life...
Every ending is just the beginning,
the dawn will surely come.
Dream little dreamer and sing little singer,
you are the rising sun.
