A.S.S-S Repost of the Week - REPOST6 - Sun, 7 May 1995 HANG TUFF, DON'T PUFF! ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ If you slip up, Don't Give Up! Just start over again. Nobody's perfect But we all can be stubborn little buggers It feels so good to feel the agonies of a nicotine urge One of those muscle-cramping urges, maybe, Or maybe one of those kinds of empty feelings You get sometimes, when you start thinking to Yourself about how !WONDERFUL! "Just One" would taste ... About how you could smoke "Just One" and get away with it ... But then you get hold of yourself, Mentally kick yourself in your imaginary pattotie, and tell yourself: "No! I ain't gonna smoke no more! No Way! No How! No More!" And in a moment then, that urge to have a sickarette is GONE! And you feel so GOOD about yourself! :-) For once in your life you've done the RIGHT THING! Even your mother-in-law would be proud of you ... And More Importantly, You know That you have passed a MILESTONE Every urge to smoke that you resist makes you STONGER, And BETTER able to resist the next one And This is what this Quitting Business is all about: Resisting, One Urge at a time The ones add up to twos and threes ... And tens and twenties, and hundreds, and thousands Slowly, One Day at a time, One Urge at a time, You build up your quitting time ... And after a while, You begin to notice that those urges to smoke Don't come as often as they used to And then, one day, you discover that you can take a deep breath, And hold it without coughing! And you then discover that you can take a deep breath down into those Lower parts of your lungs that you had forgotten were even there Life is sweeter in the Smoke-Free Lane! --------------------------------- Thanks to the posting originator: BobM
