Some thoughts from Father Don's Loose Leaf Rule Book

"If an addict who has been completely cured starts smoking
again he no longer experiences the discomfort of his first
addiction. There exists, therefore, outside alkaloids and
habit, a sense for opium, an intangible habit which lives
on, despite the recasting of the organism. . . . The dead
drug leaves a ghost behind. At certain hours it haunts the
    house."

Jean Cocteau (1889-1963), French author, filmmaker. Opium
    (1929; tr. 1932; ed. 1957, p. 60).

It is well to remember "The dead drug leaves a ghost behind. At
certain hours it haunts the house."

Yes, the following list of 10 helped me win these over 4 years of
smoke-free living, after kicking an addiction of 45 years, I keep
this list around, I hope it helps you:

(1) When the student is ready, the teacher appears; (2) No one, who
tries, fails; (3) The urge to smoke will pass whether or not I
light up; (4) Remember the "Adult" response to urges to smoke: I
cannot help the way I feel right now, but I can help the way I
think and act; (5) This journey gets easier and easier as I invest
more and more smoke-free time; (6) There are two kinds of failures:
Those who thought and never did; and, Those who did and never
thought; (7) Smoke-free women are beautiful; They keep getting more
and more beautiful with every smoke-free minute; Smoke-free men are
handsome; They keep getting more and more handsome with every
smoke-free minute; Smoke-free people's children are all above
average; (8) See yourself as you were born to be . . . Smoke-free;
(9) Trust in the Almighty, but tie your camel; and (10) Now is a
time to be vigilant . . . Look everywhere . . . Under the beds,
behind every door, above the ceiling fans, behind the drapes, in
the car's trunk, under the toaster, in the electric skillet . . .
"It" could be anywhere, be on guard lest some foul forgotten
formidable fierce ferocious forceful fighting flipper flop you . .

See yourself as you were born to be . . . Smoke-free
                         And
Trust in the Almighty, but tie your camel.

                                       (It's only me) Father Don
